Modern tools for Senior Living, Care Homes and Hospitals to track meal consumption, prevent undernourishment, and reduce food waste with clear analytics and alerts.
Based on photos of the dish eaten, our AI can identify each element of the meal and measure the missing portion to feed tracking data.
No heavy equipment, no cumbersome processes, just a few words and the hands are free in less than 30 sec per resident.
From photos or audio consumption records, our AI measures food intake and waste for each meal to feed relevant analytics.
Monitor daily food intake, track resident's nutrition, alerts in case of decline, see food performance analytics, understand food waste & increase efficiency.
"Too many elderly people suffer from malnutrition, it is our duty, and because we will one day be in their shoes, to put the best of technology at the service of common sense: eat well to age well!
When the second biggest expense in healthcare isn't managed by the numbers in terms of food waste and performance, Skeal offers an intelligent platform to address both issues: health and sustainability."
Based on his rewarded experience of working alongside nutrition researchers since 2017 on this question: how can we monitor the diet of the elderly to prevent the onset of undernutrition? He is co-author of a study published in the journal Nutrients in 2022.
The consumption of each meal is displayed along with nutrient levels, which can be monitored via alert thresholds.
At the scale of a single restaurant, a facility, a region, a group. At breakfast, lunch, dinner, in dining room, bed rooms... everything you could possibly want to monitor is easily available.
Without resorting to subjective surveys, Skeal gives you a clear picture of which dishes work and which need improvement. Whether portions are adapted to the typology of eaters. And whether measures are being taken to reduce waste for the benefit of residents. Get reports frequently, pilot your food expenses with precise analytics.
Improve prevention of nutrition disorders.
Provides the elderly with the necessary nutritional intake.
Cut food waste costs due to improper dishes or portions by 50%.
Without heavy effort, regularly download the extract from your database to keep up to date with the residents and the food menu.
Seamlessly connect to any platforms with the help of Zapier or HIPAA/ healthdata safe alternatives like Keragon or Dock Health and the help of our team.
Whether you are an independent facility, a local group or a multinational corporation, quickly add links between your sites and filter your data with precision.
Assign consumption measurements to your own dishes and foods, import your nutritional values or ask the AI to feed everything: portions, categories, values, menus...
To personalize nutritional monitoring, import photos and physiological data for each resident and track their progress.
To install the Meal recording application, you need to use a mobile tablet, whether Android or Apple, equipped with a back camera with fairly recent features and performance. In this case, it's more practical to use a magnetically-attached table stand as shown in our illustrations, which are available from many internet marketplaces.
In an other hand, you would be asked to upload and keep updated at least two files from your information system :
- your residents table,
- your menus and food items or dishes.
Menu data can be read from a single PDF to populate the dish table in Skeal. Similarly, the portion or nutritional values of each dish can be filled in by the AI, if they are missing on your side.
At Skeal, we harness the best in generative artificial intelligence models to deliver the finest results you deserve.
Thanks to our experience, we have incorporated to our recording tools, our prompt ingineering and AI fine-tuning processes, all the biases you might encounter when measuring unstructured data sources such as plates or food trays. Our results are then less dependent on what your staff will have to adapt in their field practice, or what you will have to correct visually afterwards as other solutions :
- Skeal ability to correctly recognize the food item served on photos = 85%
- Skeal ability to accurately measure the food portion to be eaten between 2 photos = 87%
* The statistics come from a proof-of-concept study carried out in a French EHPAD in 2024 over a 1-week period, measuring every dish served at lunch to 30 residents. As a result, 738 meals were analyzed.
On request, we offer motivated early-adopters the opportunity to test Skeal free of charge for a period defined together. It's important to us that you are supported in embedding your data efficiently, that we validate with you the effective installation of your tablet application and photo support, so that we can then stay in touch and examine together how you generate relevant data on the food consumption of your residents or guests. Please don't hesitate to contact us to get your free early access and support.
For us at Skeal, you should pay for what you use, and we should grow with you as you expand your use of Skeal: from people to be monitored for nutrition, to every meal served for efficiency. In this way, you'd be able to take action for the well-being of your residents, while achieving a significant return on your investment in sustainability.
For groups of facilities, what's important is how to implement a new digital solution into structured, well-established practices, how to integrate it into the information system to circulate important data seamlessly with other management and intelligence tools, and finally how to deploy such an effective monitoring solution to the greater part of the organization. At Skeal, we have experience of such integration and training projects, and we also offer large companies progressive contracts based on a decreasing unit price for meals analyzed, progressing in increments according to the number of sites equipped and the number of residents/patients monitored daily.
The minimum unit price starts at $0.09 per meal analyzed.
